Thanksgiving 2010

This year we celebrated Thanksgiving at my cousin Valerie's house.
I made Praline Pumpkin Pie.

Ingredients:

1 Unbaked deep dish pie shell
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
4 eggs
15 oz. can pure pumpkin
12 oz can evaporated milk
1/2 cup milk

Mix sugar, salt & spice in small bowl. Beat eggs in large bowl. Stir in pumpkin and sugar-spice mixture. Gradually stir in milk.

Pour into pie shell.

Bake in preheated 425 degree oven for 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees; bake 40-50 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for 2 hours.

Praline Sauce
1/2 cup diced pecans
3 tbsp butter
3/4 cup brown sugar 1 tbsp milk
Microwave until creamy, keep stirring in between checking consistency.

Pour Praline Sauce over cooled pumpkin pie and add pecans to decorate. Serve immediately or refrigerate.

It was delicious!

There was about 40+ of my dad's family that gathered together to celebrate.

We basically put out all the food buffet style and eat once around lunch and then graze all day in between football games.

Its always fun for the boys to be around their cousins.

Bryce, Brock and Jake.

My dad has two sisters still living Aunt Jimmielou & Aunt Jeanelle. My dad was the baby of 11 kids. We don't know the meaning of small get togethers.

I'm 47 years old and have enjoyed all the wonderful memories of our family get togethers over the years. I hope my boys are making good memories also.

Cousins all smiles and full tummies.

Take time to be thankful for your loved ones.

My cousin Valerie making hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookies for the kids.

A big fire and lots of football and catching up with one another.

It was very chilly after a cold front moved through...perfect fall weather.

Out in the country you can see the windmill in the skyline at the end of the day.
Hope your holidays were filled with family and good times and good food.

Happy Thanksgiving

I'm thankful for friends and family and today we had some special visitors at the tearoom.
Michelle & Joel Reasoner are visiting from Yakima, Washington.
Michelle worked for A Spot For Tea while she was here going to college.
Congratulations Michelle & Joel...they're expecting their first baby in July.
They will be missionaries to Russia soon...it was so good to see them both and share their good news.

My good friend Susan Craton is here visiting her mom Jimmie Lee from Arkansas.
I have known Susan since I was in 8th grade living in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Susan has been a wonderful friend to me all these years....she's like the big sister I never had.
We will be closed tomorrow for Thanksgiving so everyone can enjoy the holiday with their loved ones.

Sunday Brunch

Sunday Brunch with my best friend on Sunday afternoon - one of my favorite things. I had the Crab Cakes Egg Benedict and she had a ham/cheese omlette. Delicious...with jazz music playing just loud enough that you can chat.

My best friend Cathy drove up from Ft. Worth on Sunday.
We had girl time...catched up on all things important and she helped me put everything into perspective and made things right with the world once again.

God guides us, despite our uncertainties and our vagueness, even through our failings and mistakes...He leads us step by step, from event to event. Only afterwards, as we look back over the way we have come and reconsider certain important moments in our lives in the light of all that has followed them...do we experience the feeling of having been led without knowing it, the feeling that God has mysteriously guided us. - Paul Tournier

How blessed we are when God helps guide us through the wisdom of best friends.

A Spot For Tea employee, Charlotte Morre had her debut on Saturday night.
Charlotte exhibited 35 original drawings - over 30 sold that night.

Charlotte is like one of my own daughters. She has worked for A Spot For Tea since 2006. I have watched her grow into a beautiful young woman and a very talented one at that.

All the A Spot For Tea girls that came to support Charlotte

Brown Family in Rose Cottage

Meet the Brown Family.
Three party families happen when you have 3 daugthers who have tea parties in the Rose Cottage.
We had Jordan's birthday party December 2002. Jordan is on the left.
We had Taylor's birthday party a year later in October 2003. Taylor is on the right.
Today was Lexi Brown's party in the Rose Cottage.
She is turning 6 years old.

Jordan, Lexi and Taylor Brown 2010.

Lexi and her guests.

Lexi and her sisters, mom and grandmother.
Thank you Brown family for letting A Spot For Tea make memories with your daughters.
It was a wonderful treat to host all three parties.
They grow up way too fast.

19th Wedding Anniversary

Eric and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary last night at Mahogany Prime Steakhouse.

Its known for its "Prime Steak, Fine Wine, Premium Service."
Thank you Ann & Sherry for the gift certificate so we could have a very special night out.
No kids allowed...sometimes mom and dad need an evening alone.
We loved the atmosphere and the food was pricey but the Filet Mignon melted in our mouth.
Thank God I am not a vegetarian.

They were playing Frank Sinatra in the background. He is one of my favorite crooners to set the mood for romance. Girls, it was a real treat for the man in my life...keep it in mind for a special evening out.
