"You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with." Jim Rohn

We are so thankful working with family and catering for the chapel and gardens.
They have added so much to our lives and we are grateful for the opportunity to cater for the weddings at both places.

Proverbs 1:8 "My son, hear the instuction of your father; reject not nor forsake the teaching of your mother. For they are a (victor's) chaplet (garland) of grace upon your head and chains and pendants (of gold worn by kings ) for your neck."

Goodbye Susie

A Spot For Tea has made a special friend....Susie and her family are moving to Illinois. This was her last Queen's Tea with us before moving. She brought her daughter Olivia, and her friends Dolores and Linda treated her to one last tea together. Susie is in pink and her daughter Olivia is in the royal blue hat.
Proverbs 27:9 "Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness
of one's friend springs from his earnest counsel."
"It is my joy in life to find
at every turning of the road
the strong arm of a comrade kind
to help me onward with my load.
And since I have no gold to give,
and love alone must make amends,
my only prayer is, while I live -
God made me worthy of my friends."

Sweet Thank you

Today I received a surprise that made my day!

It was a beautiful book of encouragement.
The first page there is a encouraging note written from my sweet customer Gwen Patrick.
Gwen is one of those people God brings into your life
to give you just the right word when you need it most!
Colossians 2:2 "My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love,
so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that
they may know the mystery of God,
namely, Christ!"
Across the page that she references is a quote from
Eleanor Roosevelt - "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
This is why A Spot For Tea is here because of customers like Gwen
who have become my friends!

Mother's Day Tea Memories

Thank you to my mom, Charlotte! We took this picture Mother's Day 2006.
I can't imagine what my life would be like if I didn't have my mom.
She is always there for me with understanding and support.
She is a beautiful example and model of God's goodness.
Today we celebrated Mother's Day at the tearoom.
It was our 4th Annual Mother's Day Tea.
We filled up both sittings this year and actually had a waiting list.
I took some pictures of the special event going on upstairs at A Spot For Tea.
A Mother's Day story (Eric's mom sent this to me) and party favor!
Special Tea Menu was served upstairs for Mother's Day.
The three tiered stands were delicious thanks to Alisha and Maryerle!

Julie Clifford came and blessed us by playing the piano!

Some women came as a surprise!

Friends I've had for a long time coming to celebrate with us.

Dressing up and having tea with mom.

Families coming together to say thanks to mom for all you do!

Hats and smiles and lots of fun!

Memories from the Mother's Day Tea!

Proverbs 31: 28-31 "Her children rise up and bless her;
Her husband also, and he praises her, saying:
'Many daughters have done nobly,
But you excel them all.'
Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
But a woman who fears the Lord she shall be praised.
Give her the product of her hands,
And let her works praise her in the gates."

Art Group

"Paint brushes in teapots

and watercolor paper

Ladies in hats

creative endeavors

words being written
dreams being told
thoughts being spoken

Art studio in the tearoom."
2 Timothy 2:15 "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."
Thoughts on Creativity
"If you cannot express yourself on any subject, struggle until you can. If you do not, someone will be the poorer all the days of his life. Struggle to re-express some truth of God to yourself, and God will use that expression to someone else. Go through the winepress of God where the grapes are crushed.....the author who benefits you most is not the one who tells you something you did not know before, but the one who gives expression to the truth that has been dumbly struggling in you for utterance." My Utmost For His Hightest - Oswald Chambers Devotional
"If your daily life seems poor, do not blame it; blame yourself, tell yourself that you are not poet enough to call forth its riches; for to the creator there is no poverty and no poor indifferent place." Letters To A Young Poet - Rainer Maria Rilke
The tearoom has a small community of incognito artists that meet at the tearoom and write, paint, make stuff with their hands and share artistic endeavors with each other. A support group for artists. The art group's name is "Tesserae Collective" named after author's Madeleine L'Engle's Newberry Award winning book "A Wrinkle In Time". Just like in a mosaic, the pieces fit together to form a bigger picture. Individuals artist coming together...developing and expressing their gifts and becoming the person God designed them to be.
"Our gifts are not fom God to us, but from God through us to the world." The Creative Call - Janice Elsheimer.

Whatever Is Lovely

What to do with your broken china pieces? When life gives you lemons make pink lemonade or in this case a broken china mosaic teapot!

Spring is here! One of my most favorite things about the tearoom is the retail area. We got new items in last week for Mother's Day. We redid the upfront with new antique pieces! Love this apple green cupboard I found to display all the goodies.

I love anything pink, green or with roses. I read today that your feelings are part of your internal guidance system. When you are feeling joy and a sense of expansion, it simply means you are on course - the things you are focusing on, the thoughts you are thinking or creating, the ideas you are entertaining, and the activities you are engaged in are actively moving you in the direction of your dreams.
Philippians 4:8 "Finally, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things."
THINK ON WHATEVER IS LOVELY!
