Where I Create

Welcome to my new office at the tearoom...the place where I create.

I love being surrounded by things that inspire me and things that I love.

Inspiration Board for ideas.

Tea cart, Rose Tea Set & Tea Samples

A place to try out new teas.

This pink rose tea set from Germany was given to me by Mildred Murray
a good friend to me and my family for many years. I will always treasure it. It was given to her by her son before he passed away.

My Yixing Teapot came from Marsha Grantham another good friend that I've been blessed with for over thirty years. It was her mother's teapot and she thought it needed a new home at A Spot For Tea. These teapots are distinctive reddish stoneware and came to be considered the "best vessel for brewing tea" by Chinese tea aficionados. After prolonged use, the Yixing pot will develop a certain patina that retains some of the taste, scent and color of tea and that also lends the teapot itself an unusally attractive luminscent quality.
All the books I read to keep me focused and motivated. Don't you love to read.

World Tea Expo glass teapot and special tea books.

Alisha Johnson gave me the placque for Christmas. I just hung it next to the Leopard chair.
I've decided that it will be my prayer for the NEW YEAR.
EXPECT MIRACLES in 2009!

My birth verse is Matthew 9:29 "The he touched their eyes and said, 'According to your faith will it be done to you'; and their sight was restored."

These blind men were persistent. They went right into the house where Jesus was staying. They knew Jesus could heal them, and they would let nothing stop them from finding him. That's real faith in action. If you believe Jesus is the answer to your every need, don't let anything or anyone stop you from reaching him.

What makes this celebration so special?
Sarah Curry was one of my first employees at A Spot For Tea.
She came to work for me when she was a sophmore in high school and her grandfather thanked me tonight for giving Sarah her first job and a great place to work which blessed my heart.

Ashton Butler who is pictured above also worked at A Spot For Tea. They were such sweet girls who grew up and went off to college. Blake was Sarah's boyfriend in highschool. They waited 7 years to get married until Sarah finished college this year at OSU. They will live in Arkansas where Blake works and Sarah just finished student teaching. I'm just so proud of her and I wish them both many years of happiness together. She is a beautiful bride. We love you Sarah!

Song of Solomon 5:1 "I have come into my garden,
my sister, my bride;
I have gathered my myrrh along with my balsam.
I have eaten my honeycomb and my honey;
I have drunk wine and my milk. Eat, friends;
Drink and imbibe deeply, O lovers."

Christmas Memories 2008

My Aunt Janice made all these stockings for us....don't you love gifts that are handmade?
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care...in hopes that St. Nick soon would be there.
A little milk and cookie for the big guy!

Tea Radio Interview

Lady Dawnya Sasse

Tea Radio is new and enjoyable listening. This is one of the latest, hottest tea news mediums. We met the official sponsor of Tea Radio, Lady Dawnya Sasse at the World Tea Expo in Las Vegas. Her presence and individuality was made known because she was wearing beautiful hats on the expo floor.

Sponsored by Start A Tea Business, Tea Radio is unique, fun to listen to and a great tea resource. What better way to get to know people more indepth? If you haven't met a tea business owner face to face, but would love to learn a little more about them, chances are Lady Dawnya will interview them on Tea Radio.

At Tea Radio, guests share their own personal tea journeys. Lady Dawnya asks questions like: What is your personal tea story? Your tea dream? What made you start your tea business? What inspires you? What challenges have you faced? How do you celebrate your love for tea? These questions and their answers help inspire new tea business owners and help current business owners by sharing common interests and needs.

The Thunder Rolls

Sunday, December 21, 2008
Tip-off 6pm
OKC Thunder vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
Eric, Benjamin and Blake wearing Santa Hats

My dad, Molly and I cheering on the Thunder

So...let us look back to 2006 and the New Orleans Hornets have been transplanted to OKC because of Hurricane Katrina. We were honored to be a part of Anita Scott's (Coach Byron Scott's wife) birthday party with player's wives and the owner of the Hornet's, George Shinn's wife come and celebrate her special day in the Queen's Room.

We were thrilled to have them all in the Queen's Room wearing hats and having tea.

Mrs. Anita Scott was surrounded with some beautiful smiles.

Another picture of the girls at their tea party to honor the coach's wife.

We are so excited to have the NBA come to OKC. My dad got season tickets and we believe our boys have had the most fun going to the games and cheering on the Thunder. Whether they win or lose we are just happy to have them in our city playing basketball.

We are also glad that the New Orleans Hornets and Chris Paul are having a great season back with their fans in Lousiana.

Lamentations 3:22 "The Lord's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail, They are new every morning; Great is Thy faithfulness."

Heart Story by Deana Smith

Former Congressman J.C. Watts

Vernon and Deana Smith

It's always such a delight to have lunch at A Spot For Tea and the women were excited to be going there for our monthly Let's Do Lunch sponsored by our Women's Ministries. Mary Roy arrived early and Mary saw that there was one woman sitting alone at a table. That could not be! She immediately introduced herself and invited her to join our group for lunch. The woman seemed happy (and relieved) to accept the invitation.

After all the introductions, she told us that she had been to the doctor that day and was concerned about the results of some tests. Also, her husband was starting a new business venture and their family would be moving to the Washington, D.C. area.

It was obvious that this was not a casual meeting - it was planned by God for us to offer her encouragement, companionship, and most of all, time to gather around and pray for her. What an awesome experience! We had met and prayed with a new friend, had offered her company and encouragement during her time of need. We, in turn had been blessed by her kind and sweet demeanor.

Several in the group were trying to figure out a gracious way to pay for her lunch but before one of us could make an exit to the cashier, she announced that, regretfully, she had to leave. We had missed our opportunity!

Tammy approached our table with what we thought would be the tab for our lunch and everyone began reaching for their purses. Were we ever surprised when she told us that our guest had not only paid for our lunches (17 women) but she also had included the tip!

Our angel and new found friend was Frankie Watts, the wife of former Congressman J.C. Watts. It is wonderful the many ways God blesses us when we reach out to others in love!

A Special Note: This happened during our first year of business. It served as a sign to us that our calling was to minister to people, and offer an atmosphere to allow people to minister to each other. We still believe it today, almost 6 years later.

1 John 2:10 "Whoever loves his brother lives in the light."
