Winter's Day

These are a few of my favorite things on a winter's day
...a big roaring fire.

For The Love Of Charlotte Rooibos Tea in my glass teapot.
Rooibos grows only in the Cedarburg region near Cape Town.
The plant receives its name, which means "red bush" in Afrikaans,
from the green, needle-like leaves - when left out to dry,
they turn a rich red color.
It's an herbal tea and has no caffeine...
so you can do some relaxing.

Speaking of relaxing...love my fuzzy black houseshoes and black pajamas.

School's Out...icy roads and the boys behind our house in a snow covered field.

Three Muskateers sledding down the driveway.

Look mom...all smiles.

Benjamin sledding.

Blake sledding.

My favorite Hot cocoa for when they come indoors.
Combine 1/4 cup Hershey's Cocoa
1/2 cup sugar
dash salt in saucepan
sitr in 1/3 cup hot water.
Bring to boil over medium heat
stirring constantly; boil and stir 2 minutes
Add 4 cups milk;
stir and heat.
DO NOT BOIL.
Remove from heat;
add 3/4 teaspoon vanilla.
Add whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles.

Delicious...

So good to warm you up when you're cold.

Brock smiling and drinking 2 cup fulls.

Then popcorn and a movie.

One of my new favorites...Nim's Island.
We heard the cheers... NO SCHOOL TOMORROW.
So dad & mom took the day off too and put a sign on the door
Tearoom Closed For Snow Storm 2009
to keep our staff and customers safe.
Enjoying the moment of a winter's day with my boys.
Psalm 119:18 "Open thou mine eyes, that
I may behold wondrous things."

Highlights of a week in January

This is my new art book journal that my friend Lindy made me and gave me on Tuesday.
Don't you just love it?...now I have a new place to record all my joy findings.
It has a quote on the inside cover from Psalm 73:24 "You guide me with your counsel leading me to a glorious destiny."

On Wednesday, I received an invitation to speak at luncheon at the Quail Creek Golf & Country Club sponsored by the North OKC Christian Women's Connection. They had centerpieces on each table decorated with Teapots and teacups. So cute!

They also wanted me to display some of the gift items from our gift boutique
and gazebo which is full of interesting porcelain, antiques, tea-time acceories, children's books and tea sets.

One of the ladies Annette dressed up and there was also another special speaker
Jackie Van Eaton and a soloist, Jessica.

Two ladies in lace.

On Thursday we hosted a retirement party for two ladies
from the Universal Insurance Company.

They were a delightful group and we enjoyed getting to host this event at A Spot For Tea.

The two ladies that retired were Frances and Shirley.

On Friday night Brock had a birthday dinner at Outback Steakhouse.
Here is the birthday boy with his good buddy Braxton.

And here he is about to blow out his seven candles.

Queen's Tea with Amanda and her mom.

Ladies in hats...sipping tea and celebrating special occasions.

Small ladies also doning hats.

God has really been teaching me about noticing the wonderful in the everyday.
Lindy put another quote in my book "All animals, except man, know that the principal business of life is to enjoy it."- Samuel Butler
One of my New Year's Resolutions is to enjoy life more.

The gates of time 9:01 - 9:03

Another picture of the empty chairs.

9:02 a moment that will stand still forever between the gates of time.

Eric's sister Gretchen and Eric's nephew Michael and the boys standing at the reflecting pool.

We will never forget....the children's tiles.

On this day as President elect Barak Obama is set to swear in...and yesterday, being Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I wanted to share with you what we did on Sunday. Eric's sister Gretchen her son Michael came to see us this past weekend. They are traveling to Las Vegas..check out her caddymom blog and follow their journey. We always like to take visitors to our state to the memorial and always I am moved by the awe of that place. Let us now pray for our President as he takes office that God will protect him and his family. Let us never forget all those that have given of their lives to this great country.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

New Year - Tea Party Central

Cecilee's 10th birthday party

Veronica's 10th birthday party

Makia's 5th birthday party

New Year - more tea parties.
"Take some more tea," the March Hare said to Alice
"I've had nothing yet," Alice replied in an offended tone,
"so I can't take more."
"You mean you can't take less," said the Hatter. "It's very
easy to take more than nothing."
- Lewis Carroll, Alice Adventures in Wonderland (1865)
We have our own wonderland at A Spot For Tea and its for children of all ages.
Its a good way to end the day on Saturday...
to reflect about all the wonder that happened this week.

"Where there's tea there's hope." - Sir Arthur Pinero
My sentiments exactly.....

Psalm 147:11 "The Lord delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love."

Tea Mentors

Tea Mentors Kay Snipes and Terri Eager.

Sisters Kay Snipes and Terri Eager own Magnolia & Ivy previously located in Destin, Florida. They have a new venture to open up a tearoom in a hotel back in their home state of Georgia; more details to follow as soon as I know more. These gifted ladies can be credited with encouraging entrepreneurs like themselves to bring the gift of tea to their home towns. Before opening A Spot For Tea, I trained with Kay and Terri in January 2003 to learn more of their secrets by attending a conference Open A Tearoom God's Way which inspires others to walk in their God given destiny within the business community.

"My life is like a teacup, I can choose
to give drink to others or just be used up.
Fragile, yet strong - delicate, yet wise,
God hand-painted me, I'm one-of-a-kind.
Each new dawn a fresh choice life brings,
what will fill up this delicate thing?
A cup of bitterness, unforgiveness, hate?
Or love, joy, peace? You see I choose the fate.
A sip for a friend, co-worker or neighbor,
a long draught for my family admist all of their labor.
Oh Heavenly Father, my Potter,
My Guide, fill me to overflowing,
your love to imbibe an article of beauty,
a vessel of grace
may my cup be a reflection of your precious face."
- Magnolia & Ivy

Psalms 23:5 "Thous hast anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows."

The Suite Life of the Seiberts

We started out our New Year's Eve 2009 at Chili's for dinner.
Thank you Uncle Tim and Aunt Cindy for our Christmas gift certificate...yum!
Three brothers looking forward to all of the night's festivities.

Tammy and Eric looking forward to a night of fun.

Bon Voyage in our own Downtown OKC...Bricktown, Opening Night & Thunder BBall.
The night's big surprise and blessing came when we were picked going
up the escaltor to be upgraded to a Thunder Suite.

This young man wearing a suit called Eric over and asked if He would like to sit in a suite?
He saw the boys all dressed in OU red and white and said that OU held a special place in his heart and how many were in our party? He said all we had to do was trade in one of our tickets..for a suite...wow, what a deal. The next thing we know we are going down to club level and into Thunder Suite 36. Can you believe it?

What a treat...the boys couldn't believe it either...wide eyed and all smiles.
Free drinks and snacks....oh happy day!

TVs and a special room...WOW!

Suite 36

THUNDER BASKETBALL.

And then icing on the cake...they won 107 to 100.

Another view of the suite out to our seats.

Thunder 107 Warriors 100

Can you say....forever Thunder fans.

Next thing on the agenda swimming at the pool after the game at the Courtyard Marriott
right next door to the Ford Center. A little mini vacation....for the Seiberts.

Getting fired up and ready for midnight.

Dressing warm for Opening Night

Ringing in 2009....downtown in OKC.

Chilling out and getting ready for the ball to drop (oh it actually goes up in OKC)
...can you tell someone is getting sleepy?

Now he's better on the back of his big brother.

Lights and crowd downtown OKC.

Midnight and firework display...HAPPY NEW YEAR! The lighted ball is in the corner.

The next morning... Bricktown view from room 735.

Water tower at Bricktown.

Breakfast buffet..yep...we made our own waffles.

I topped mine with strawberries and cream.

Eric, Blake and Benjamin....can you say fun...yes, we had FUN!
James 1:17 "Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights." Jesus we welcome 2009!
